Trivia: Is a vegetarian. While performing in San Francisco, received her SAG card from Lily Tomlin who then cast the young comedienne as a TV commercial actress in the movie The Incredible Shrinking Woman. Jennifer Aniston, Jim Carrey, Kathy Griffin, and Damon Wayans are among several actors who worked with Julie before becoming major stars themselves. Several of her songs, most notably The Homecoming Queen’s Got A Gun and ’Cause I’m A Blond, have received airplay on many radio stations. The video for The Homecoming Queen’s Got A Gun was, ironically, banned by MTV due to excessive violence. Julie’s father was an NBC employee for many years, and her brother Paul is a screenwriter. Made film debut in Clint Eastwood movie Any Which Way You Can(1980) and episodic TV debut in a 1979 episode of Happy Days.
Other Works: Released two albums, Goddess in Progress (1983) and Trapped in the Body of a White Girl (1987). Co-wrote and co-starred in the movie Earth Girls Are Easy (1989). Co-created, produced, and starred in the following series: Just Say Julie (1989-1992), The Edge(1992-93) and Strip Mall(2000-2001). Also produced and co-starred in the TV series Clueless(1996-1999) and is one of the few cast members to have appeared in both the 1995 movie of the same name and the TV series that followed. Co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in two made-for-cable movies: Medusa: Dare to be Truthful(1991), which marked the pinnacle of her career and is a spoof of the 1991 movie Truth or Dare, and Attack of the 5’2’’ Women(1994).
